FIELD EXPERIENCE FOUNDATIONS: DEVELOPING ANALYSIS AND SELF-REFLECTION SKILLS
The Field Experience program at Rosemont College is divided into two parts, EDU 4502 and EDU 4504. This course, EDU 4502, is the first part of the two part series. In this course students will learn how to script a lesson by labeling and classifying the teacher's behavior and the response of the students. Students will learn the 10 Essential Concepts for effective instruction and use them as a framework for the course. Students will also learn the difference between describing a lesson and analyzing a lesson - with the focus on analysis. Students will learn how to write a clear and succinct lesson analysis using the 10 Essential Concepts as a framework for their analysis. Students will also learn how to write a clear and succinct self-reflection of a
lesson, placing themselves in the role of the teacher. All of this work will be done using videotapes of real teaching episodes.
