ANALYSIS AND SELF-REFLECTION SKILLS OF EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION APPLIED TO CLASSROOM
The Field Experience program at Rosemont College is divided into parts, EDU 4502 and EDU 4504. This course, EDU 4504, is the second part of the two part series. In this course students will apply their knowledge of the 10 Essential Concepts, which are used as the basic framework to analyze effective instruction. Student will visit classrooms and observe teachers and students working together. The student will script the lessons using a coding system for the 10 Essential Concepts and then after collecting data, the student will analyze the lesson's effectiveness and self-reflect on their own ability to teach the same lesson. The skill of self-reflecting and putting oneself in the role of the teacher, thinking about planning and delivering the lesson and identifying personal/professional strengths and weaknesses, is important in learning how to become an effective, reflective teacher.
