Having the opportunity in the past to facilitate a few courses on-line on the Derxel web-ct platform, I find that the jenzibar (iway) is a very user friendly system. One area that could use some tweaking is the colloboration forum to facilitate file exchange and grading, where you can easily assign a grade for participation and submission. File exchange only occur in the assignment portion of the portal..

Overall, the on-line learning tools on the iway are very functional in terms of direction and fundamental structure of courses and timeline.

I agree that iWay is user-friendly.  I also support your suggestion regarding file exchange in the Collaboration section for easier grading.  Speaking of easier grading, is there a simple explanation of how to post Collaboration grades??  I have been facilitating Online courses with Rosemont for eight years, and since the installation of iWay I am still perplexed as to the proper method of posting Collaboration grades.  I have, essentially, sent each student a grade breakdown with an explanation for each week.  Yikes!  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Lorraine,
I have been using the coursework section to help keep track of my collaboration grading.  I make "discussion boards" a new type of coursework, make it "off line" and assign it with weekly points.  There is brief feedback area associated with points (so if you may need to email long comments), but it does give me a way to keep track of these grades weekly and it feeds into the Gradebook area.  Of course you need to go back and review the collaboration boards for the week in detail before assigning points and comments.

You essentially have to set up the information in the course work portal to assign grade to a particular discussion. The coursework area will dictate the instructions regarding grading. Example: Please visit the colloboration forum to discuss the difference between publicity and public relations. This discussion topic is worth 3 points for participation. Please respond to original post and a minimum of two threads (classmates). I trust that this information helps..

Lorraine -

I do something similar to marie - I create a graded "participation" item in the courseworks with a breakdown for the vatious items comprising graded participation.  I then insert the grades as I go along so that the students have an idea how they are tracking tyhroughout.
