Alpha Sigma Lambda
The criteria for selection into the Epsilon Upsilon Rosemont College Chapter of
Alpha Sigma Lambda, a national honor society for undergraduate students in
continuing higher education, include: A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, attendance
at Rosemont during at least one session in the preceding calendar year,
completion of at least thirty-six (36) graded credits at Rosemont, and rank within
the top ten percent of students pursuing an accelerated undergraduate degree
within the School of Professional Studies.
Who’s Who
Who’s Who Among Graduate Students in American Universities and Colleges is an
annual recognition to honor the nation’s leading graduate students. Established in
1934, it aims to recognize individual academic and leadership excellence at over
1,800 institutions of higher learning, including Rosemont College.
Outstanding Achievement at the Graduate Level
Students who are eligible for Outstanding Achievement at the Graduate Level
must meet the following criteria: They are matriculated in a degree-granting
graduate program, they anticipate graduating in May of the current year, and
they have attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.90 (by the end of Session
C in graduate business, by the end of the fall semester in all other graduate programs).
Eligible students may not have more than 3 credits of graded coursework
still in progress, and they may have no grade of Incomplete on their transcript.
Eligible students may be currently enrolled in, or may have already completed,
their thesis, practicum, or student teaching (including Graduate Seminar in
Curriculum & Instruction).
Presidential Medal
The recipient of the Presidential Medal, the highest honor bestowed on a student,
has demonstrated exemplary intellectual achievement and, in addition, distinction in some combination of the following: contributions to fellow students or to the college, leadership in the community or their profession, or to the advancement of the values of the Rosemont mission.
Undergraduate Faculty of the Year Award
Eligible faculty must have taught at least 10 courses and be currently teaching
in the School of Professional Studies. The Award recipient has been determined by
current students to promote critical thinking and classroom effectiveness; to
engage a wide-range of student learning styles in the classroom; to encourage the
application of concepts, ideas, and information learned in the classroom; to make
learning relevant and meaningful to the students; and to encourage students to
become lifelong learners.
The Dean's Award for Online Faculty Leadership
The Dean's Award for Online Faculty Leadership is given annually to a faculty member who has created highly interactive, student-centered, and rigorous online learning experiences for students, led the way for colleagues, and demonstrated the power of the online
instructional medium. The awardee has created a dynamic community of learners who, through their online studies, have contributed to knowledge in the field and to each others' learning.
Award for Distinguished Teaching at the Graduate Level
Eligible faculty members must have taught consistently in the Graduate program
for at least the past three years. The Award recipient is selected by students and
peers for the ability to promote the highest standards of "excellence and joy" in
graduate-level education.
